All nationalities require a valid passport (including nationals of the USA and Canada). Staying more than 90 days will require additional documents.

All visitors who enter the country are required to purchase a tourist card which costs $10 US. They can be obtained at the airport when you arrive. After exiting the airplane you will brought over to the counter to purchase the tourist card. The card allows tourists to remain in the country for a maximum of 90 days (single entry).
Customs:
You can bring into the Dominican Republic, duty free, all your personal needs except:
- Automobiles, motorcycles, motor boats (always pay taxes/duties).
- Machines, appliances, spare parts. Invoice required. Subject to payment of duties on customs valuation.

Alcohol, wine: quantities for personal consumption only.

Arms, ammunitions, dangerous goods: customs will seize shipment if any found in household goods shipment, and shipper could be sent to jail.

Plants: should not be sent in household goods shipment as customs will confiscate and destroy.

Cats and Dogs : Rabies vaccination certificate and health certificate obtained at origin. Duty free entry.

Birds: Have a quarantine period of at least 10 days.

Other animals: Department of Agriculture and Nation Zoo (import permit).

Pornographic books and materials : importation prohibited.
You can take out the Dominican Republic your personal needs. Remember that you will have to declare your goods to your destination country. Please contact your local authorities for more information. Generally, you can import alcohol, wine, tobacco, but quantities for personal consumption only (50 cigars per person). Plants and vegetables are strictly forbidden and will be destroyed.
